The Pain Rehabilitation Unit (VE) is one of the largest pain rehabilitation units in Sweden. We offer interdisciplinary and internationally accredited pain assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals with activity limitations due to chronic pain. Our rehabilitation puts the patient at the center and involves them actively in their care.

The different professional groups in our team possess specialist competencies in their respective fields regarding assessment, treatment, and knowledge of chronic pain and its consequences. We are constantly working to develop our operations. The unit is represented in a local working group for chronic pain in Skåne and is a university healthcare unit tasked with teaching, education, and development, as well as supporting research in the field of chronic pain.

We have a total of approximately 70 employees at the unit. Several of our employees are part of various research groups and conduct their own research. The unit also includes the Child and Adolescent Pain Clinic, and the National Quality Register for Pain Rehabilitation (NRS) is part of our operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for an engaged social worker (counselor) for a permanent position at our Pain Rehabilitation Clinic in Lund. Join us and contribute to an increased quality of life for our patients!

As a social worker with us, you work with pain management programs both in groups and individually. You conduct mapping conversations, individual sessions, and group meetings with patients. By finding new coping strategies and influencing surrounding factors, you support the patient in reducing the consequences of chronic pain. An important part of the role is helping the patient understand and plan for work-oriented rehabilitation.

You work closely with different professional groups in the team, with the goal of helping the patient increase activity, participation, health, and quality of life despite chronic pain. You also coordinate and participate in meetings with other actors such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and the Public Employment Service.

The treatment method is based on knowledge from a biopsychosocial perspective, behavioral analysis, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Patient rehabilitation is evaluated according to quality registers, which entails continuous improvement work at the unit. We are keen on ensuring you enter your role in the best possible way, and therefore you will have a supervisor during the introduction period.

The position may include weekend on-call duties at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) as well as supervising social work students during certain terms. The team is offered supervision with a focus on CBT/ACT.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you if you have a degree in social work. It is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

We consider the following to be meritorious:

• Licensure as a healthcare social worker/counselor
• Experience with work-oriented measures for rehabilitative purposes.
• Worked as a counselor at a hospital or in primary care.
• Experience with rehabilitation in teams and group treatment.
• Rehabilitation experience with patients with chronic pain or other rehabilitation.
• Education and/or knowledge within the social insurance system or insurance medicine, for example as a rehab coordinator.
• Education in CBT, ACT, or Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Additionally, we look for someone with a strong interest in working with patients with complex and chronic pain and who enjoys working in a team centered around the patient. Working in pain management programs means that each team member needs to contribute their part to a well-organized flow and schedule. Therefore, you need to be organized and good at communicating with your team. Furthermore, you have the willingness and ability to share your competence with others. Helping the patient gain increased confidence in their own abilities is a key word for you. Personal suitability is given great weight.
