We are now looking for a Youth Outreach Worker (Fritidslot) for the Youth Leisure activity in Solna Municipality – we warmly welcome your application!

About Us

Within our youth leisure activity, Ung Fritid (Young Leisure), we have a team of approximately four employees known as "fritidslotsar" (youth outreach workers). As a youth outreach worker, you are part of the Ung Fritid activity, which primarily works with teenagers in middle and upper secondary school. However, the scope of the youth outreach worker is not limited to these age groups but encompasses all children and young people.

In this role, you will work across several areas within our activity, but the main task is to meet children and young people on the arenas where they naturally gather. This can be outdoors, in shopping centers, on sports fields, and at youth clubs. The work involves building relationships with the young people of Solna and helping them find meaningful leisure activities, driven by engagement and interest in children and youth.

What Does the Job Entail?

As a youth outreach worker, you move around Solna and are attentive to young people's problems, wishes, and feedback, helping them find meaningful leisure activities. You work to create a sense of security and collaborate with other parties within and outside the municipality, such as social services, security guards, businesses, associations, police, and similar entities. You will also work at our meeting places for part of your working hours to get to know our activity and our young people.

You will to some extent participate in creating leisure activities or events, for example, during school holidays or in places where temporary needs arise. Our team of youth outreach workers may be tasked with acting with short notice in places where insecurity exists or where many children and young people gather for various reasons. Youth outreach workers always work in pairs in outdoor environments. The work is carried out in close dialogue with Solna's meeting places within Ung Fritid, which also serve as the base and starting point for the work.

The work involves a lot of time outdoors and preliminary duty during evenings and weekends every other week. However, you are always off every other weekend.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for you who have:

  • Relevant upper secondary or higher education (e.g., social pedagogue, social worker, or similar) or equivalent documented experience working with young people.
  • Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

We consider it meritorious if you:

  • Have education or experience as a youth leader.
  • Can speak French, Swahili, or Ukrainian.
  • Have experience from voluntary work, e.g., in associations.
  • Have experience in promotional work.
  • Have experience with low-affective handling and conflict management.
  • Have previously worked on projects in this area.

In this role, it is important that you are flexible and have the ability to work problem-solving with complex issues. You have good teamwork skills, find it easy to build relationships, and inspire trust in your role. You have good communication skills and adapt to the situation and the individual.
