Unit Description
The Swedish Armed Forces' primary task is to defend Sweden against armed attack. The Environmental Permitting Section contributes to this by creating the conditions for the Swedish Armed Forces to carry out its main task. The Environmental Permitting Section's main task is the permitting of environmentally hazardous activities, such as shooting ranges and air bases, as well as leading and carrying out work with contaminated areas.
The Swedish Armed Forces are in a strong growth phase, and our unit is currently in an exciting and expansive phase. We at the Environmental Permitting Section are very involved in this growth, among other things through the permitting of the Swedish Armed Forces' training activities, which constitute environmentally hazardous activities under the Environmental Code.
We are a Swedish Armed Forces common resource, and have our area of operation throughout the country, and in some cases also abroad. Our unit currently consists of 25 positions, with mixed competencies in the form of project coordinators, lawyers, administrators, and economic handlers. We work together in a positive and stimulating environment in the middle of military life at a regiment. With us, you get a unique opportunity to contribute concretely both to environmental work in Sweden and to the work of creating conditions for the Swedish Armed Forces' main task.
Our employees have several different benefits, including:
- Competence development based on the needs of the activity and your career goals
- Three hours of training per week during working hours and compensation for training shoes up to 1,200 SEK every other year
- Good balance between work and leisure with flexible working hours and 28–35 days of vacation depending on your age
- Salary supplement during parental leave and VAB (care for sick child/relative) as well as the possibility to exchange vacation days for extra pension savings.
Main Tasks
As a Project Coordinator at the Swedish Armed Forces' Environmental Permitting Section, you are responsible for project-managing the permitting of the Swedish Armed Forces' environmentally hazardous activities. This is done in close cooperation with the unit's lawyers and other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces. The work covers all parts of the permitting process, such as consultations, preparation of permit applications, and appeals in consultation with the unit's lawyers. You also answer internal and external inquiries and support notification cases, respond to remits, and handle sustainability issues, etc.
The Environmental Permitting Section's permitting group handles different types of reviews with a focus on permitting of air bases and shooting ranges. We have close collaboration with other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces and the Defense Family, as well as other authorities and actors.
The Swedish Armed Forces are experiencing historic growth, and as a project coordinator, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute concretely to the Swedish Armed Forces' growth and develop the work with permitting in connection with this growth.
Travel for work occurs, and you can largely control the extent yourself. The Swedish Armed Forces' Environmental Permitting Section is located at the Command Regiment in Enköping, but is functionally led by the Headquarters. There is also the possibility to agree on working from home after the probation period.
