Öhlins is a fundamentally Swedish company with a global presence, specializing in advanced suspension systems for motorcycles, cars, and mountain bikes. For 50 years, their technology has contributed to hundreds of world championship titles in motorsport.
Since January 2025, they have been part of the Brembo Group, a world leader in braking systems. Together, they drive innovation and development forward with a focus on performance, sustainability, and future mobility.
At Öhlins, customer needs are at the center. They work with passion, trust, and respect – believing in the power of collaboration and technical curiosity. Here, you will help shape the next generation of performance technology in an environment where ideas are valued.
Are you an analytical engineer with a strong interest in structural mechanics, simulation, and advanced product development? Do you want to work in a high-tech environment where your calculations influence products in motorsport and premium vehicles?
Öhlins Racing is now seeking a Calculation and Simulation Engineer for their headquarters in Upplands Väsby – a unique opportunity for you to combine theory, practice, and a passion for world-class technology.
About the Role
Professionals Nord is recruiting on behalf of Öhlins Racing (https://www.ohlins.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) for a Calculation and Simulation Engineer. This is a direct hire position, meaning the recruitment process is handled by Professionals Nord, and you will be employed directly by Öhlins Racing. All questions regarding the role should be directed to [email protected].
What We Offer
- A key role in an internationally recognized R&D organization within the premium segment of suspension and damping
- Opportunity to work closely with design, testing, and simulation in the development of products for motorsport, motorcycles, and the automotive industry
- A technically advanced environment where you have significant responsibility and the opportunity to influence development
- Benefits such as an in-house gym, wellness allowance, Benify, an on-site lunch restaurant, and shortened Fridays
Responsibilities
As a Calculation and Simulation Engineer, you will work closely with designers, test engineers, and project teams in the development of future shock absorber and suspension systems. The role focuses heavily on structural mechanics and FEM calculations, where you analyze the strength, fatigue, and behavior of designs under various load cases.
You will work on both fast-paced development projects related to racing and longer-term development projects for OEM customers, following projects from concept to finished product. The role involves many internal contacts, and you are expected to drive your work independently, present results, and provide recommendations based on your simulations.
Examples of tasks:
- Perform FEM and strength calculations within structural mechanics
- Analyze design behavior and loading in simulation environments
- Provide technical recommendations based on simulation and analysis
- Work closely with the testing department and understand the link between simulation and real-world verification
- Participate in development projects for OEM and racing customers
- Document and report results, primarily in English
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other specialist functions
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for you who have a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Physics, or a similar field, and have worked for several years with FEM calculations and structural mechanics in a similar role. To succeed in this position, we see that you have at least five years of experience working with simulation, strength calculations, or CAE in a technically advanced development environment.
You have a good understanding of how designs behave in reality and can translate theory into practical analysis and recommendations. We also believe you thrive in a role where you work closely with design, testing, and development, and where you independently drive technical issues forward. We believe you have a genuine technical interest and preferably a practical interest in vehicles, engines, or mechanics. Perhaps you tinker with cars in your spare time?
We would appreciate if you have:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within FEM, simulation, or strength calculations
- Experience with FEM tools, such as Ansys or similar
- Good knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics
- Experience from the automotive, aerospace, railway industry, or other technically advanced industries
- Ability to work independently and drive multiple issues in parallel
- Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both oral and written
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
It is an advantage if you have experience in measurement technology, verification, or working close to testing activities.
We believe your personal qualities are crucial for how well you will thrive in the role at Öhlins Racing. To succeed, we see that you are curious, unpretentious, and confident in your competence. You collaborate easily with both junior and senior colleagues and thrive in an environment where communication, order, and quality are a natural part of the work. Furthermore, we believe you are flexible, analytical, and have strong self-drive in how you approach technical challenges.
