Stockholm – our capital city full of millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone who lives here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and different with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Bromma District Administration offers you a workplace where your efforts can truly make a difference and contribute to the public good in a growing district. Here, active employee participation and clear leadership form the foundation for a developing operation.

Welcome to us

We are now looking for two qualified and experienced youth workers who want to help develop our operations together with young people.

The youth activities are part of the unit for promotion and preventive measures, which falls under the Department of Social Services and Leisure. The unit is led by a unit manager and two group leaders with a total of 33 employees across the activities; Youth Activities/Youth House, Field Activities, School Social Teams, Citizen Service with civic guidance, and the procured Youth Clinic. We are located in pleasant premises in Bromma Blocks, in the Youth House at Islandstorget, and in Blackeberg with proximity to public transport. Within the unit, we work intensively with development and innovation and have a strong focus on citizens. Collaboration is a key word within the unit. During the summer, part of the operation will move into new premises in Mariehäll where we will start a new youth activity and a new citizen service office.

The Youth House is centrally located at Islandstorget and is a safe, creative, and inclusive meeting place for young people aged 13–17. We are members of the KEKS network (Quality and Competence in Collaboration) and work according to the Charter (European principles and guidelines for local open youth and leisure activities). The central aspect of our operation is that it is based on the active participation of young people, and youth involvement is our motto.

We are open 6 evenings a week and offer, among other things, a cafe, project office, dance, theater, workshops, homework help, LAN gaming, and creative activities. We also have an operation based on digital creation, in the form of two fully equipped studios for music, photography, and film production. There is also a podcast studio, as well as a 3D printer. In addition, we have a fully equipped rehearsal space with all the instruments needed for a band. The environment is dynamic and shaped by the young people's own interests and wishes.

In August 2026, we will open a new meeting place for young people in the House of Opportunities in Mariehäll. At that time, you will have the opportunity to work together with existing youth workers to furnish and develop the operation. When the new meeting place is ready, youth workers will rotate between the existing meeting places.

We offer

  • A cohesive unit with a clear mission and participation.
  • A meaningful mission where you contribute to strengthening youth activities.
  • Engaged and knowledgeable colleagues who have drive and focus on the operation's mission.
  • Subsidized fitness benefits.

Your role

As a youth worker with us, you will:

  • Together with your colleagues and the young people, create, lead, and develop leisure activities with a focus on the young people's interests.
  • Actively contribute to an inclusive climate where all young people feel welcome and heard.
  • Be a present and secure adult in the daily lives of young people.
  • Support young people in their interests – whether it involves creating a project, contacting a club, performing on stage, or just trying cooking.
  • Work proactively and relationship-building, both in the Youth House and in collaboration with schools, associations, and other actors.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a qualified youth worker with a great interest in youth issues and documented experience working with young people in open activities.
  • Have good cooperation skills, are receptive, and find it easy to build relationships with young people.
  • Have awareness and knowledge of norm-critical and democratic work.
  • Have experience in youth work with a focus on music studios.
  • Are used to working project-based together with young people.
  • Are experienced in collaboration with authorities, schools, and police.
  • Are self-reliant, initiative-taking, and confident in leading both groups and individual meetings.
  • Have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working within Stockholm City.
  • Experience with the KEKS network's working methods and education, as well as knowledge of the Charter.
  • Experience working with youth participation and understanding how a project office works.
  • Experience working with youth councils.
  • Category B driver's license.

Other:

Scheduled working hours during day, evening, and weekends. Great importance will be attached to personal qualities.

For questions about the position, contact group leader Magnus Wide at 08-50806189.

Selection may take place continuously during the application period.

Stockholm City works with competence-based recruitment aimed at considering each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.

In the event of an interview, bring a Swedish/EU/EES ID document or passport, as well as relevant original documents for the position, educational certificates/diplomas, any issued professional license, certificate, or work permit.

To work for Stockholm City with children, young people, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, including work in their homes, you must show an extract from the Police's criminal record and suspicion register. For work with LSS measures for children with disabilities, you must submit an extract from the Police's criminal record register. You order the extract yourself, and it must not be older than six months, or one year for work with children, from the date of issue.

Open to all
We focus on your competence, not your other prerequisites. We are open to adapting the role or workplace to your needs.
