About the workplace

We are now expanding our operations with five additional languages. The Multilingualism Unit in Ale is a joint municipal unit working to promote the learning and development of multilingual students. Mother tongue teachers in many different languages work here, meeting students at schools throughout Ale Municipality. The unit is responsible for mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue. Currently, we offer instruction in approximately 30 languages, with slightly more than 600 students enrolled in mother tongue instruction and around 170 students receiving study guidance. Through this activity, students are given the opportunity to develop both their mother tongue and their knowledge of school subjects.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to work with us? The role of a mother tongue teacher involves planning, implementing, and following up on your teaching based on current regulatory documents.

You document students' development and results in written assessments and grades. The position may potentially be combined with study guidance in the mother tongue for various subjects. In such cases, you collaborate with teachers in work teams at the schools where you provide study guidance.

Digital tools are a natural part of your daily work and teaching. You are willing to try new things and explore together with colleagues and students.

You are expected to develop your own teaching while also contributing to the development of the rest of the operations by participating in various development processes.

Languages and Employment Percentage:

• Greek 10% (mother tongue only)
• French 10% (mother tongue only)
• Meänkieli 5% (mother tongue only)
• Punjabi 10% (mother tongue only)
• Portuguese 30% (mother tongue and study guidance)
• Albanian 30% (mother tongue and study guidance)

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have documented knowledge of the mother tongue and master it in speech and writing. Primarily, we seek you who have a degree as a mother tongue teacher or study guide. In other cases, we would prefer that you have a degree in pedagogy.

Interest and competence in digital tools are considered meritorious.

A driver's license is also meritorious as the positions are at different schools.
