About the organization

The Foster Care Unit is responsible for recruiting, assessing, and proposing foster homes and emergency shelters to municipal social welfare boards. We also provide continuous support, supervision, and follow-up to the homes that take in placed children and young people. Our work is characterized by high professionalism, a clear child's rights perspective, and close collaboration with municipalities.

About the role

As a Foster Care Consultant, you have an independent and responsible role where you are in charge of a number of emergency and foster homes.

You act as a central link between the foster home and the social services – working to ensure that every placement is as safe and stable as possible.

Your main responsibilities:

• Receive and assess requests from social services
• Match children, young people, and adults with suitable foster homes, including in emergency placements
• Responsible for follow-up of ongoing placements
• Provide support, supervision, and guidance to foster homes through regular contacts and home visits
• Collaborate closely with social secretaries and other stakeholders
• Document and follow up on interventions according to current guidelines
• Recruit and assess new foster homes
• Conduct training for foster homes

In some cases, you are also responsible for placements involving therapeutic interventions.

Requirements

Education and experience

• Relevant academic education in social work, behavioral science, or similar
• Good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL), BBIC, and relevant regulations
• Documented experience in recruiting, assessing, supporting, and supervising foster homes
