We are now strengthening our legal work with a corporate lawyer. We offer a varied and broad assignment with a focus on developing information management at the National Archives of Sweden and the state. The National Archives is in an intensive development phase due to the state's digitalization and the changing external environment. As a corporate lawyer, you play a key role in this development.
About the assignment
The position is located within the legal function. The function is responsible for legal guidance, development, and support at the National Archives and currently consists of a Chief Legal Counsel and four corporate lawyers. The assignment is broad, with a focus on legal issues regarding information management, particularly digital information management, due to the rapid development within the National Archives and the state. This includes, among other things, questions regarding the regulation issued through the National Archives' regulations and guidelines, the development of how the National Archives provides information from the archives via e-services, and the creation of AI tools that can benefit society's access to information. In 2025, the National Archives became a preparedness authority. Therefore, legal work within the area of security and preparedness has a special focus in our work.
As a corporate lawyer, you work broadly within the function's area of responsibility with qualified and strategically important legal issues, contributing legal expertise to various projects and assignments. You produce internal steering documents and provide legal support in the authority's development work. An important part is the support in the authority's extensive regulatory work. You also provide support to the operations in areas such as confidentiality assessments, contract drafting, procurement, and copyright issues. The unit also handles certain ongoing legal matters such as handling of consultations, litigation, cases for the Parliamentary Ombudsmen (JO) and the Chancellor of Justice (JK), data protection issues, work against misconduct, and staffs the authority's whistleblower function.
As a corporate lawyer, you work closely with the authority's management and have many contacts with managers and employees within the authority. You also represent the authority externally when necessary and participate in cooperation with other authorities.
About you
You should have:
- a law degree,
- several years of experience in qualified legal work, for example as a legal advisor or equivalent,
- experience with qualified administrative law issues, and
- good knowledge of public access and confidentiality as well as data protection legislation.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience in qualified legal work related to e-government and IT development in the areas of administrative law, data protection, public access, and confidentiality,
- experience in legislative work and other qualified legal investigative work,
- experience in working with preparedness and security issues,

Terms of employment
Employment type: Permanent position.
Full-time/part-time: Full-time
Workplace: Located at one of the National Archives' operational sites (Stockholm, Gothenburg, Lund, Härnösand, Uppsala, Visby, and Vadstena)
The National Archives applies individual salary setting and a 6-month probationary period.
Start date: As soon as possible or according to agreement.
