The role of Personal Assistant

As a personal assistant, you represent Hela Sveriges Assistans. In this role, you will complete a web-based training course on what it is like to work as a personal assistant. Together with the client and your colleagues, you will strive for high quality and adhere to the company's values and policies.

As a personal assistant, you are responsible for reviewing information sent from the headquarters and, if necessary, seeking information available on the website. For other questions, you contact your supervisor or the headquarters.

About your role as a personal assistant with me

An assistant is sought for my fantastic team! I am a 58-year-old gay man living in Malmö. I have worked in healthcare (assistant nurse) and the Swedish Public Employment Service (study and career counselor). I have a neuromuscular disease and need help with most aspects of daily life, except for communication. I am always connected to a ventilator and have a tracheostomy. All transfers are done with a lift, e.g., transfers between wheelchairs.

The job involves helping me with various tasks to make my daily life easier. You will help with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, tracheostomy care, household tasks, and anything else we need to manage in life. Outside the home, I mainly meet friends, family, go shopping, attend theater, and watch MFF matches, among other activities. I enjoy reading books, am interested in society, and have a humanistic view of life and society.

What I am looking for in you:

• Driver's license (automatic transmission) is preferred.
• Ability to learn work methods and routines easily.
• Flexible and able to fit into my home environment.
• Interest in the role of a personal assistant (healthcare experience is not mandatory).

There are some heavy lifting moments, but the more routines you learn, the less physical strain there will be. I have assistants around the clock. Currently, I have 7 assistants aged 23–45, both men and women. You will work both single and double shifts. For me, healthcare experience is not a must, but you should have an interest in the job. You, my other assistants, and I should form a good team.

There are opportunities for hourly/full/part-time work, and potentially permanent employment. You will be scheduled 24/7. You will shadow me until we both feel it works. Training regarding tracheostomy will take place at my home. I use HSA, Hela Sveriges Assistans, as the provider and act as the supervisor for those working with me.

Job Description

Schedule positions: 1-2 people at approx. 75-100%

This position is on a rolling schedule, meaning you will work days/evenings, weekends, and awake nights.

We are also looking for people who want to work as hourly employees as needed

We are currently looking for new substitutes who can step in as needed, and who might also consider working during the summer.

Working hours are scheduled during days/evenings, nights, and weekends. Night shifts are awake nights.

Before we offer employment, you must show an unopened extract/digital mailbox from the police's criminal record register. We also require a valid Swedish work permit, such as a passport or an approved work permit from the Swedish Migration Agency.
