Gransäterskolan After-School Centre

Gransäterskolan is a primary and lower secondary school (grades F–9) with two parallel classes and approximately 500 students. The school premises also house the Aspen group, a municipality-wide instructional group. The school is characterized by collaboration, curiosity, and a strong desire to develop teaching and learning environments together.

The after-school centre is an important part of the students' school day – here, learning, security, and relationships are woven together. We have a clear pedagogical focus where the instruction in the after-school centre is central. Over the coming years, we will jointly invest in development and training based on Ann S. Pihlgren's research and the Swedish National Agency for Education's modules for after-school centres.

Together, we will deepen our understanding of how instruction can become more conscious, language-developing, and meaningful – always with student participation as the focus. Do you want to be part of this development?

Ongoing Development Work

We are already in a strong development phase, where we, among other things, have senior teacher assignments focusing on language development and instructional development. We participate in the "Reading Owns" project and have close collaboration with the school librarian to strengthen reading interest and linguistic ability. We have also initiated discussions regarding instruction in social learning, relationships, and student influence.

In other words, the focus is on developing instruction within language, communication, and reading, as well as social learning, relationships, and conflict management in everyday life.

Responsibilities

As a teacher in the after-school centre, you are responsible for:

• planning, implementing, and developing instruction
• creating meaningful and accessible learning environments
• leading and developing recess activities that promote participation, movement, and social interaction
• strengthening student participation, relationships, and social development
• collaborating with school teachers for a cohesive school day
• actively contributing to collegial learning within the work team

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• is a certified teacher in after-school centres
• has an interest in instructional development
• views the after-school centre as a pedagogical activity with its own knowledge mandate
• is comfortable working both independently and in close collaboration
• preferably has experience working with students in need of support
