Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, combining the quiet beauty of nature with a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, elderly care, and many more. We work to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who make the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for homes, families, and businesses possible.

To succeed fully, we need diverse competencies and must work together to build a common and trust-based work culture, built on brave, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents.

Our Operations

The new Social Services Act means a clearer focus on early, preventive, and accessible interventions for children and young people. Social services should work more knowledge-based and reach residents early – before problems have grown large.

In our preventive operations, we work on safety and crime prevention with a focus on strengthening protective factors and reducing the risk of norm-breaking behavior, school absenteeism, and crime among children and young people. Field secretaries play a central role in identifying young people at risk and offering support at an early stage.

The Support and Interventions Unit belongs to the Individual and Family Care Department. Within the unit, you will find among others Mini Maria, the Youth Clinic, Parent Support Hamnen, the School Social Team, SSPF/SIG, and field operations.

Your Role

In the role of Field Secretary, you will work in close collaboration with both internal and external actors to identify and support young people between the ages of 10 and 17, as well as their families.

As a Field Secretary, you will work with three main focus areas:

Conduct preventive and relationship-building work at the municipality's primary and secondary schools:

  • Collaborate with school staff, student health services, and other actors regarding young people in need of support.
  • Plan and implement preventive measures and group activities based on identified needs.
  • Inform about social services' support measures and work to lower the thresholds for support and help.
  • Early identification of young people at risk of norm-breaking behavior, school absenteeism, or crime.

Work with qualified contact person interventions for young people:

  • Offer individual support and motivational interventions to young people.
  • Create and maintain trusting relationships with young people and guardians.
  • Be a support in the young person's daily life and contribute to positive and sustainable changes.
  • Collaborate with family, school, and other professionals regarding the young person's needs.
  • Document and follow up on interventions according to the operations' routines.

Outreach work and field operations together with Värmdö Polarna

  • Work on safety and crime prevention evenings and weekends together with Värmdö Polarna.
  • Plan, implement, and follow up on field operations. Lead Värmdö Polarna together with your two closest colleagues.
  • File reports of concern when there is suspicion or knowledge that a child is suffering.
  • Collaborate with police, leisure activities, and other actors to prevent crime and social vulnerability among young people.

Evening and weekend duty is a natural part of the job.

Your Experience

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or other relevant behavioral science higher education.

You have at least two years of experience in social work with children and young people at risk and are accustomed to collaborating with schools, social services, police, and other important actors regarding the target group.

We would like you to have experience in leading operations, including responsibility for planning, implementation, and follow-up. You also have documented experience working with young people with norm-breaking behavior as well as preventive and safety-building work related to crime.

A B-driver's license is required.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience with social services' authority exercises within children and young people,
  • experience in outreach, preventive, or treatment work with children and young people,
  • training in or experience working with influence programs, such as RePulse,
  • competence in group leadership, Signs of Safety, or network-oriented work.

Your Personal Qualities

Personal Maturity – you are secure and stable in your professional role, have good self-awareness, and the ability to make well-founded decisions even in complex situations.

Collaboration Skills – you work well with others, build trusting relationships, and collaborate professionally with both colleagues and external actors.

Leadership – you are clear, responsible, and have the ability to motivate and guide others in their work. You create security and engagement in the contexts you lead.

Structured – you plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively, and follow up and drive the work forward independently and qualitatively.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The Employment

The employment is a permanent position and is full-time. Welcome with your application no later than June 7, 2026. Selection and interviews will take place continuously during the application period, so submit your application as soon as possible. For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police criminal record is a prerequisite for employment.

Värmdö Municipality offers a wellness allowance, an SL card (public transport) against net salary deduction, and holiday exchange for extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good work environment and apply smoke-free working hours.

We strive for an even gender distribution and see diversity as a strength, welcoming applicants with different backgrounds.
