The Education Administration is responsible for the education of all children, young people, and adults in Eda Municipality. Together with our 280 employees, we educate our residents and work based on the owner's vision that "everyone should succeed." The Education Administration is responsible for all school/activity forms, from preschool and primary school to cultural schools, upper secondary education, and adult education in Eda Municipality.

The Education Administration works on behalf of the Education Board based on our 10 mutual expectations regarding how we are expected to act, be perceived, and relate in daily meetings and dialogues between employees, children, students, and guardians. "Everyone should succeed" constitutes a common approach/working method that presupposes active leadership/employee participation and mutual responsibility for our systematic quality and work environment work towards goal fulfillment and a good work environment in all our activities. The purpose of study and career counseling in primary school is to give students the prerequisites to gradually develop their ability to handle issues related to future study and career choices. As the range of education and professions increases, and society and the labor market change rapidly, future issues can be experienced as both complex and difficult to overview, even at an early age.

Study and career counseling is therefore a central part of the school's compensatory task and of students' lifelong learning. Through counseling, students are supported in their continuous career process where self-awareness, knowledge of the world, and future dreams are gradually developed.

About the assignment

Study and career counseling in primary school is conducted in both a broad and narrow sense and is a joint responsibility in the school's operations, with the study and career counselor as a clear professional resource.

Counseling in a broad sense includes measures that give students knowledge and experience about education, working life, and society. This can, for example, involve internships, teaching elements about working life, study visits, educational information, and activities that strengthen students' self-awareness and future perspectives in collaboration with school staff.

Counseling in a narrow sense consists of personal counseling in the form of individual conversations and group counseling. Here, the student is given the opportunity to reflect on their interests, abilities, and values in relation to different possible future paths.

The counseling should be based on each student's needs and prerequisites and be adapted according to age, maturity, and life situation. For students to be able to make well-founded and conscious choices in the transition to the next level of education, a well-planned, professional, and equal study and career counseling is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Study and career counselor degree
• Good knowledge of the primary school's mission and the different pathways of the education system
• Understanding of career processes such as choosing, learning, and change
• Knowledge of counseling models and theories based on psychology, sociology, and pedagogy
