As a Staff Officer at the Military Academy Halmstad, you will be an important part of a successful team in an agency experiencing strong growth.

As a Staff Officer in the planning function, you will be part of the work supporting the unit commander, our unit leaders, and other staff members, who together form the support and leadership structure of the Military Academy.

The Staff Unit

As a Staff Officer in the planning function (J5), you belong to the Staff Unit. The staff consists of 16 employees distributed across seven different functional areas, and you will be supervised by the head of the planning function.

Currently, J5 consists of the head, and as a Staff Officer, you will be a key development for the function's future capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

The role is characterized by independent work. Your tasks involve coordinating and participating in the preparation of incoming and planned tasks for the unit based on Swedish Armed Forces (SAF) planning and execution processes. Parts of the preparation follow SAF planning and reporting cycles, while others may be emerging projects where higher command seeks the unit's perspective. As a Staff Officer, your task is to coordinate the unit's planning, and much of the work is done in collaboration and with support from the higher-level staff.

The work is carried out in a flat hierarchy environment with a strong focus on developing the school's operations, where you will, among other things, act as a project manager in various projects.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Current Bachelor's degree primarily within the social sciences, or equivalent relevant experience as assessed by the employer
  • Current and relevant experience in processing and preparing cases for decision-making
  • Relevant experience in leading projects

Personal Attributes

To succeed in this role, you must be able to work result-oriented and solve assigned tasks within your area of responsibility in a structured manner. This means you organize and plan your work well, complete what you have started on time, and meet deadlines. As a case officer, you are also expected to have the ability to collaborate with others and be driven to find solutions that facilitate the unit's operations.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant experience in processing and preparing cases from public sector operations
  • Experience from military service
  • Experience working with the SAF system VIDAR

Other Information

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the agency.

The Military Academy in Halmstad (MHS H) trains future specialist and reserve officers for the Swedish Armed Forces' combat units. Additionally, experienced specialist officers are trained for higher specialist officer positions. The Military Academy Halmstad also leads the Swedish Armed Forces' development of leadership and pedagogy and supports the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters with program management of education and leadership of basic training under total defense duty.
