Vellinge Municipality, with approximately 37,800 inhabitants, is located in the heart of the expanding Öresund Region. Loneliness is a growing societal problem, and national surveys show that one in three people over the age of 85 experiences loneliness. To counteract involuntary loneliness and social isolation, a project involving senior contacts was initiated in the summer of 2021. In early 2024, the operations transitioned to become a permanent part of the municipality's regular organization.

The assignment aligns with the preventive approach emphasized in the Social Services Act, where municipalities are to work towards promoting good living conditions and preventing social problems through early and accessible interventions.

The current position is one of two Senior Contact positions in the municipality, both at 80%. The position is organizationally placed within the Authority for Care and Elderly Care in Vellinge Municipality.

At the authority, there also works a senior assistance officer, eight assistance officers, three LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Disabilities) officers, a fee officer/elderly and next-of-kin liaison, and a housing coordinator/fee officer.

Job Description

As a Senior Contact, you work to counteract involuntary loneliness among the municipality's elderly residents. The assignment involves offering non-assistance-based and compassionate support with the goal of enabling seniors to engage in social activities, such as activities at the municipality's activity centers, in associations, or in other community activities.

The work is both informative and proactive, carried out in close collaboration with, among others, assistance officers, the municipality's elderly and next-of-kin liaison, health centers, social services, the church, libraries, pensioner associations, activity leaders, and the local business community.

The intervention follows a set working model with three to five meetings and is based on a person-centered approach, adapted to the individual's wishes and conditions. The support is directed at seniors living in ordinary housing, is free of charge, is not subject to an assistance assessment, and is covered by confidentiality.

You work closely with your colleague in the role of Senior Contact as well as the elderly and next-of-kin liaison, but you also have great independence in planning and structuring your workday. The main focus of the assignment is proactive work out in the community, in activities, and in the seniors' home environments.

Qualifications

The profession of Senior Contact involves many meetings with people in different life situations. Therefore, we are looking for you with high social competence, sensitivity, and a genuine interest in others. You thrive in interactions with people, have a positive attitude, and combine good teamwork skills with personal drive.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with the elderly. You are curious, present, and confident in leading conversations that build trust. Experience from elderly care or similar operations is meritorious.

Personal suitability will carry significant weight.

For the position, a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) and a B-driver's license are required.
