About American High School, Uppsala

The school is centrally located in the Luthagen area. In the autumn, the school will enter its fifth academic year and will have approximately 220 students studying on the Natural Science, Economics, or Social Science programs. Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish by a competent teaching team with a strong sense of community.

About the Position

As a Study and Career Counselor, you work with individual coaching and guidance for our students. You handle the enrollment of new students, follow up on our school waitlist, and maintain contact with new students and guardians. You are responsible for the continuous follow-up of students' graduation forecasts in each grade, manage reporting to CSN (the Swedish Board for Student Finance), and handle other tasks included in the SYV (Study and Career Counselor) role.

You work closely with the school administrator and the student health team in promotional and preventive work. The EHT (Student Health Team) includes a school nurse, counselor, special education teacher, social pedagogue, and the principal.

The role also involves some administration and work in various administrative systems such as Admentum, StudyBee, and Google Drive.

This is a permanent position at 30%, with an initial probation period of 6 months. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are educated as a Study and Career Counselor, with a degree, and preferably you who also have at least a couple of years of experience working as a Study and Career Counselor. It is also meritorious if you have worked with high school students. You have experience in coaching and guiding students, as well as experience working closely with the student health team. You are expected to have good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and you have stable digital competence.

You have a professional approach in meetings with students, colleagues, and guardians, and good insight into people's different prerequisites. You find it easy to cooperate and create good working relationships with a coaching and supervisory working style. As a person, you are solution-oriented, unpretentious, and flexible. You see opportunities and you always lead challenges and problems towards solutions. You have an overall positive approach.
