Uppsala Vocational Upper Secondary School Jälla is a high school offering the Construction and Civil Engineering program, Electrical and Energy program, Plumbing and Property program, Natural Resource program, Vehicle and Transport program, as well as the Introduction program. Additionally, the school has an adapted upper secondary school program with approximately 650 students. The school is located about 6 kilometers from Uppsala's city center with good bus connections.

Description of Duties

We are looking for an engaged special needs teacher for the Introduction program who wants to create individual and sustainable solutions for students in need of special support and for students with problematic absenteeism.

As part of the student health team, you work with assessments, action plans, and teaching of students individually and in groups. You lead the student health work regarding students with special needs, supervise staff, and collaborate as needed with guardians and external actors such as social services and the police.

Qualifications

We are looking for a qualified educator who is trained as a special needs teacher or special educator, or alternatively has an academic education in the special educational field that is considered relevant for the position. Teacher certification is a requirement.

It is meritorious if you have competence and experience in mathematics, preferably through teacher training in the subject. We would also like to see that you have worked as a special needs teacher, have experience supervising colleagues in pedagogical matters, and feel confident in the upper secondary school environment. If you also have experience collaborating with other authorities and external actors, we see this as an asset in the role.

You have good collaboration skills and work well with others. You are receptive, communicate clearly, and contribute to smooth collaboration where you together find constructive solutions. At the same time, you have pedagogical insight, meaning you understand how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of explaining and conveying information according to different needs and prerequisites. You are also structured and plan, organize, and prioritize your work in an effective way, which allows you to meet deadlines and create order in your tasks.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.
