Teaching Assistant for Nature-Based School for Youth with NPD
Fören Fogdaröd omsorg, vård & skola upa ek. för.Skåne län, Höör
Previous experience is desired
In the heart of Scania, in a picturesque natural setting surrounded by forests and water, lies Fogdaröd. This non-profit association has a century-old tradition and has developed high standards in meeting and supporting each individual to utilize and develop their resources.
Fogdaröd has been operating Karolinaskolan for 25 years, a nature-based upper secondary school with a focus on horticulture, specifically designed for young people with various neuropsychiatric disabilities, such as high-functioning autism and ADHD. The school has a total of 40 students and operates on a holistic model with on-site boarding facilities.
Do you want to work closely with young people in this nature-oriented environment and be a significant adult figure in their daily lives? We are looking for new staff with experience working with young people who require special support in school as well as after school hours at the boarding house.
Your work field covers both the boarding house and the school. You will follow the young people during parts of the school day and work as a teaching assistant in theoretical subjects and/or in practical horticultural work at the school. After school hours, you will support and guide the young people in their daily lives at the boarding house – in practical matters such as cleaning and laundry, as well as in social interaction and the young people's personal development. You will help create conditions for a meaningful leisure time. Mentoring through motivating and clarifying conversations, along with documentation, is an important part of the work at the boarding house.
Working hours are scheduled Monday to Friday and may be distributed across day shifts, evening shifts, and may also include sleeping nights.
This is a term position that follows the school's academic year.
Permanent employment with a minimum of 75% full-time equivalent. Start date: ASAP.
Continuous selection process.
You should have post-secondary education, such as:
- Treatment Pedagogue
- Social Pedagogue
- Teaching Assistant
- Youth Worker / Leisure Center Leader
Or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.
Knowledge, interest, and experience regarding high-functioning young people with neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF) are desirable. We want you in our team if you are empathetic, adaptable, curious, structured, and engaged as a person. Collaboration and teamwork are second nature to you – with colleagues, families, and employers.
