The Unit for Management and International Economic Cooperation is responsible, among other things, for Sweden's relations with and management of international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Nordic Investment Bank, the Council of Europe Development Bank, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The unit also works on debt issues in developing countries and financial support for Ukraine, as well as managing the oversight of the National Audit Office, the Fiscal Policy Council, and the National Institute of Economic Research. The unit currently consists of approximately 15 employees.

As Deputy Head of Unit, you will assist the Head of Unit in leading, planning, and following up on the unit's operations and staff, with the goal of ensuring that the unit is an effective and competent instrument for the Government in its mission to govern the country and implement its policies. Your tasks include allocating work assignments, coordinating processes, guiding staff, ensuring the quality of materials, and following up on and developing the organization, working methods, and work environment. The work also includes administrative tasks, the content of which may vary based on needs. Furthermore, you will represent the Ministry of Finance and Sweden in various external and international contexts and substitute for the Head of Unit when necessary.

Your background

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in social sciences, preferably in economics. You have several years of experience working with international economic cooperation and are well-versed in the processes and collaborations that characterize this field. Furthermore, you have experience working within the Government Offices and a good understanding of what it means to work in a politically steered organization. You express yourself very well in both speech and writing, in both Swedish and English. We prefer that you have managerial experience or experience with supervisory tasks. Additionally, experience with agency management and work with or within an international institution within the unit's area of responsibility is an advantage. If you also have experience in a role as an operational representative and current knowledge of the unit's areas of responsibility, we consider this particularly meritorious.

We are looking for a secure leader with a good ability and willingness to develop both operations and staff. You have excellent collaboration skills and build trusting relationships both internally and externally. Furthermore, you have good judgment and the ability to make well-balanced assessments even in complex issues. We also see that you have a high degree of personal maturity and act stably and professionally in various situations. We attach great importance to personal suitability.

Other information

The position is a permanent appointment as an officer with a temporary assignment as Deputy Head of Unit. A probationary period may be applied.

Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.

A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
