Job Description

The Gender Identity Clinic is an assessment team consisting of psychologists, specialist physicians, social workers, and healthcare administrators. The team is tasked with receiving patients from the entire southeastern healthcare region. You will also participate in the team's treatment conferences and planning meetings.

As a social worker in the team, you are responsible for the social assessment that forms the basis for planning potential gender-affirming care. Through exploratory conversations with the patient, family meetings, and psychosocial mapping, you will determine the patient's social living situation, what support the patient might receive from relatives during potential gender-affirming care, the status of housing, finances, and employment, and whether support is needed to establish necessary contacts. Limited support conversations occur within the framework of the assessment, as well as conversations about gender dysphoria in general and social transition in particular, where you explore how open the patient is about their gender identity and support them in that process. Furthermore, the social worker handles follow-up conversations with fully assessed patients and prescribes hair removal.

The National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) mandate also includes informing and educating about the team's work in various contexts. You will work in close collaboration with the other teams in outpatient care, participate in workplace meetings, and attend joint professional meetings for social workers at the clinic.

About You

We are looking for a social worker with a few years of experience working within psychiatry. You must hold a degree in social work (socionomexamen). It is an advantage if you have experience/interest in meeting LGBTQI+ individuals and possess an understanding of the group and its challenges related to mental ill health. Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a merit.

As a person, you have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in teams with other professions. You are independent and confident, able to make your own decisions based on your profession. You are responsible and prioritize the patient's best interests through your professional and empathetic approach. You work based on science and proven experience. Naturally, you also believe that well-being and the social work environment are important for the workplace. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
