Work on a Critical Mission at Siun
Are you looking for an interesting and important assignment at a small authority in development? The State Inspection for Defence Intelligence Activities (Siun) is seeking a lawyer.
Siun is a small authority responsible for ensuring that defence intelligence activities conducted by the Swedish Armed Forces, the Defence Radio Establishment, the Defence Materiel Administration, and the Swedish Defence Research Agency are carried out in accordance with the law. Additionally, through its special decision-making body, the Delegation for Control upon Request by Individuals, Siun investigates whether individuals have been subjected to unauthorized signals intelligence.
Siun is led by a board that makes the authority's decisions, supported by the Siun secretariat.
About the Role
As a lawyer at Siun, you will participate in the authority's inspection activities and, together with your colleagues at the secretariat, prepare inspections of defence intelligence agencies. You will conduct and present legal investigations within areas such as defence intelligence activities, signals intelligence, and personal data processing. You will also be tasked with drafting and presenting proposals for decisions.
Furthermore, within the framework of the Delegation's activities, you will investigate inquiries from individuals regarding whether they have been subjected to unauthorized signals intelligence. The authority's administrative law tasks are also part of your work.
The role involves numerous contacts with both lawyers and other professions, requiring you to actively develop and maintain sustainable relationships. You must act in a way that creates security and trust among both colleagues and external contacts.
Siun is currently in a development phase where a data- and analysis-oriented inspection function is being formed. This means that in the long term, you will work alongside lawyers and colleagues with other competencies in the inspection work. You will contribute to transforming complex information into clear insights and decision-making bases, where your ability to grasp new contexts will be put to good use. You will be part of a varied and unique work environment that is both independent and cross-functional, requiring collaboration with colleagues across several competency areas.
Domestic and international travel may be required.

It is an advantage to have:
- Experience of intelligence activities
- Be an assessor (qualified judge)
- Experience of state administration

You need to be unpretentious and have good collaboration skills. You enjoy tackling complex questions where ready-made answers do not always exist, and you like to learn new things. You work systematically and maintain order even in complex workflows. You are responsible, take initiative, and drive your tasks forward independently. We place great importance on your high integrity and ability to work at a small authority with very high confidentiality requirements.
