Job Responsibilities

Hisingen's Foster Care Service is dedicated to the recruitment, investigation, training, and supervision of caregivers: foster families, respite care homes, contact and support families, as well as contact persons. The service consists of two unit managers responsible for their respective units, four senior social workers, approximately 26 foster care social workers, and four administrators.

As one of our senior social workers has moved on within the organization, we are now seeking a Senior Social Worker to lead one of our foster care social worker groups at Foster Care Unit 2, where we focus on foster homes for children placed for permanent care.

Our service prioritizes active work to ensure high-quality foster care, secure the situation of placed children, and guarantee that our foster families receive the support they need. Consequently, we have the opportunity to expand our operations, and an important and exciting development project is underway, offering participation and influence.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a central role in methodologically guiding and supporting colleagues in their daily work. You are responsible for distributing cases, reviewing investigations and written documentation, and assisting in prioritizing tasks. Part of your responsibility includes introducing new colleagues in a structured and pedagogical manner. You will also monitor statistics and implement new working methods to improve operations. A key focus is creating a positive and supportive work climate within your group.

You will also be involved in assessing investigations of new foster homes and guiding colleagues towards working more independently through a coaching approach. In this role, you will collaborate closely with unit managers and other senior social workers to drive development issues within the foster care service.

Collaboration is another central part of your role, where you actively participate in partnerships at both a strategic level and regarding individual placed children and their foster families. You will also work closely with other units within the administration to ensure the best possible support for the target group.

We place great importance on giving new colleagues a warm welcome and a strong sense of inclusion. You will be supported by an experienced group of colleagues with extensive knowledge of foster care, as well as access to continuous training in both the operational area and leadership. External group supervision is also provided to ensure you have the right tools to succeed in your role.

The work is conducted during office hours.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in Social Work (Socionom) or another university education deemed equivalent, along with a genuine interest in working with children, youth, and families. You have several years of experience in social work with this target group, where experience in foster care is highly desirable. We prefer candidates with experience in investigating, supporting, and interpreting foster home situations.

The assignment also requires strong leadership skills. Specific training in the foster care field, such as the Kälvesten Model or 'A Home to Grow In', is desirable, as is training in leadership and work management.

You have a good knowledge of current legislation and regulations within the relevant operational area. Your working style is characterized by a systemic, solution-focused, and coaching approach, where you actively contribute to the organization's goals and development.

In your professional role, you are secure, stable, and possess a high degree of self-awareness. You take responsibility for your tasks and have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work efficiently. You are committed to ensuring that both your own and shared tasks are performed with the users' best interests in focus. Your ability to reflect on and analyze complex situations enables you to make well-founded decisions, even under time pressure.

We are looking for someone who finds it easy to build and maintain trusting relationships, both within the organization and with external partners. You are a good communicator, both verbally and in writing, and can adapt your communication to the target group and situation. It is important that you can express yourself well in Swedish, both in speech and writing.

Your working style is characterized by a strong commitment to the operational area. Your interest in monitoring the external environment ensures that you stay updated and contribute to the organization's development. You are attentive, unpretentious, and have the ability to create and contribute to a work environment characterized by respect, belonging, and meaning. You take responsibility for creating a positive work climate by being a good role model and showing respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role.

You have an open and positive attitude, putting the user's needs first, and through your coaching and relationship-building leadership, you contribute to increased motivation and team spirit among your colleagues.

About Us

The Social Administration of Hisingen is part of the social services in the City of Gothenburg. We are one of four social administrations. We work purposefully to create a better everyday life for the residents of Hisingen.

We offer support within individual and family care, social emergency services, assistance with substance abuse, and integration issues. We also work with leisure activities and preventive work regarding, for example, public health, urban planning, local safety work, and integration issues.
