RESPONSIBILITIES

As a teacher at Vasaskolan, you will plan, conduct, and follow up on teaching. You will assess and evaluate various teaching strategies and adapt the instruction accordingly. At the school, we have high expectations for the students and their ability to develop. As a pedagogue, you create a teaching situation characterized by safety and a climate of trust.

At the school, we work in both work teams and subject teams. Collaboration and collegial learning are an integral part of the assignment. We want you to contribute to developing this area, work digitally, and view a sharing culture as a given. All teachers at Vasaskolan are mentors for a group of students.

You will teach subjects such as instruments and singing with piano as the main instrument, folk music and accompaniment, ensemble, digital creation, and music theory. Depending on your other competencies, other subjects may also be included. The responsibilities also include planning, conducting, and evaluating the program's joint projects and events together with other music teachers, as well as shared responsibility for the music institution, including instrument and material maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a secondary school teacher's degree in music for upper secondary school with piano as the main instrument. You must hold a teacher's degree and a teaching license with authorization to teach music subjects at the upper secondary level. You have good knowledge of the upper secondary school curriculum and experience using digital tools in teaching. You thrive in a digital work environment and are accustomed to working in teams with shared responsibility for teaching, events, and program development.

You must have playing experience, which is a prerequisite for collaborating with colleagues and students. Additionally, you must have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Regarding your main instrument, we prefer candidates trained in African American music.

We wish to complement the competencies existing in the faculty and are therefore looking for someone with authorization in the following subjects:

Instruments and singing with piano as the main instrument
Folk music and accompaniment (guitar and piano)
Ensemble
Digital creation
Music theory and composition
Aesthetic communication
Music production
Choir singing

As part of the recruitment process, a practical test at the workplace is included, where the candidate plays together with colleagues. The test must be conducted before a potential job offer can be made.

It is an asset if you have experience working as a mentor and collaborating with the student health team, both regarding students and your own teaching. We also appreciate experience in developing methods to meet students in their knowledge development.
