Your Assignment

The maritime sector is a strategically important part of the Region of Västra Götaland's work with sustainable regional development. As a Regional Developer with a focus on maritime issues, you will lead, coordinate, and develop initiatives that strengthen competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability in the blue economy. This includes, for example, maritime industries, shipping and logistics, coastal and archipelago development, marine innovations, blue food, and issues related to climate, environment, and sustainable resource use. Some of your future colleagues currently work with various sub-sectors within blue industries. Your role also involves integrating the region's work across these different areas.

The work is based on the regional development strategy for Västra Götaland and takes place in close dialogue and collaboration with companies, industry organizations, municipalities, academia, authorities, and internal functions within VGR.

You will:

• Develop, coordinate, and follow up on initiatives within the maritime sector in line with regional strategies and political mandates.
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with relevant actors within the blue economy and represent VGR in various networks, forums, and partnerships – regionally, nationally, and internationally.
• Handle project applications and operational grants in our project and registration systems.
• Prepare and present decision-making materials to the Environment and Regional Development Committee.
• Ensure the implementation of adopted decisions and contribute to the continuous follow-up of initiatives.
• Initiate and drive development initiatives that strengthen the transition to sustainable maritime systems, for example within maritime energy transition, marine innovations, and sustainable shipping.
• Contribute flexibly to the department where assignments and responsibilities may shift over time.

Who are you?

You have an understanding of public administration and the role of an enabler in a complex system with many actors, as well as experience from the maritime sector or relevant innovation and sustainability issues.

To succeed in the role, you need to:

• Have a relevant academic degree within the maritime sector or another related field.
• Have experience of strategic work and complex system issues within the sector.
• Be able to make well-founded prioritizations and determine which are most relevant for the assignment.
• Be able to work independently and structured with several parallel issues.
• Be responsive to the needs and perspectives of different actors.
• Have excellent collaboration skills and enjoy dialogue with many different types of actors.
• Have high integrity, administrative strength, and find it easy to adopt new tools and routines.
• Be skilled in collecting, analyzing, and communicating facts to different target groups.
• Be flexible and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where assignments and responsibilities may shift over time.

It is an asset if you have a doctoral education within the field and an understanding of working in a politically governed organization.
