We are looking for a student in mining and metallurgy or law who wants to work at the Bergsstaten during the summer. At Bergsstaten, we create conditions for a sustainable mineral industry through efficient, legally secure, and qualitative case management. Our work lays the foundation for security of supply regarding metals and minerals and contributes to society's ability to meet climate challenges.
At Bergsstaten, 12 employees work, the majority of whom are based in the office in Luleå. The group consists of many different competencies, and we are now looking for a temporary resource during the summer to help us staff the office in Luleå. We work with permits according to the Minerals Act, from the exploration phase to mining, and with supervision of activities at all stages. The operation is led by the mining inspector who decides on matters according to the Minerals Act.
Job Responsibilities
As a summer employee, you will work with receiving incoming mail, both analog and digital, registering documents, and answering questions from both companies and the public. Depending on your educational background and experience, other tasks may also be relevant, such as case management. You need to be able to work a large part of the summer, with our greatest need during July and early August. However, an introduction to the work will need to take place before the regular staff goes on vacation.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a commenced post-secondary education in a relevant field for the position, such as mining and metallurgy or law
- knowledge of or experience in the mining and mineral industry or government work
- very good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish
- good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written English
Desirable experiences and qualifications:
- experience in administrative tasks
- experience in service-oriented tasks
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who can structure their work approach and drive their tasks independently. Therefore, you have the ability to work independently while also being able to collaborate easily with others. You enjoy learning new things and taking on new challenges. You learn quickly and have a sense of service and a positive attitude towards your surroundings. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities for this position.
About the Employment
Employment type: Special fixed-term employment full-time starting no earlier than 2026-06-02, and lasting until 2026-08-28 at the latest. Start date by agreement. The work is scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday. We want you to be available for work during a large part of the summer, specifically during July and early August when the need is greatest.

Bergsstaten is a special decision-making body that is organizationally part of SGU but has an independent position regarding its authority. Bergsstaten is tasked with handling matters concerning the exploration and extraction of minerals. Bergsstaten examines questions about permits for the investigation and processing of mineral deposits. Another important task is to supervise compliance with the Minerals Act (1991:45).
