Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a support educator for Vidbo, a group home focused on adults with congenital or early-onset deafblindness.

We focus on senses other than hearing and sight, and we rely heavily on physical closeness and tactile contact to convey information and feelings. If you find alternative communication exciting, there are great opportunities for development with us!

With us, you will be one of several educators working collaboratively on various development issues. You will also be part of a network with other support educators across the entire operational area where you will receive guidance from method developers. As a support educator, you play an active role in developing and implementing common working methods and routines in the organization. We work in teams consisting of support educators and support assistants around our users, and good collaboration is important. Together with the unit manager, you are responsible for the process of social documentation, current implementation plans, and updated job descriptions. The position also involves work at the nearby group home Lindhult with the same focus.

In the organization, there is an overarching support educator responsible for further education regarding deafblindness and AAC. We also collaborate with national and international actors, and our working methods are based on competence and experience of deafblindness, primarily communicative relationships and video analysis. Low-arousal approaches are another important working method.

We strive to be a high-quality residence where we meet each person's individual needs. Several users have significant care needs and require support during transfers that can be physically demanding. The position includes user-centered work together with other colleagues. You will work on a schedule that includes days, evenings, and every other weekend.

Qualifications

For the position of support educator, a post-secondary specialization in the disability field is required, comprising at least 200 vocational training points, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits with two years of work experience with people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

To be able to document, you need to master the Swedish language in both speech and writing, which means a requirement for passing grades in Swedish 1, Swedish as a second language 1, or equivalent. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.

The work requires physical closeness, which you must be comfortable with. Experience working in the disability field or in care and support is a requirement. It is also meritorious if you have knowledge in communication with deafblind individuals as well as AAC, sign language, and signs as support.

We are looking for a responsible support educator who takes both personal responsibility and responsibility for the group's tasks, focusing on those we are here for and their best interests. You complete tasks carefully and follow up on results. You are attentive, aware of others' needs, and show respect and care in your interactions. You view setbacks as learning experiences and grow together with others. You are collaborative, listen, show interest, and work towards common goals. Furthermore, you are pedagogical and adapt your way of conveying knowledge to create engagement and participation.

Welcome with your application!
