Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Margretelund

The National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Margretelund receives non-compulsory school-age girls and boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse. We operate in Lidköping and near Falköping.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in everyday life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and help ensure that everyday life runs smoothly. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. Your work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

The working hours are according to a night schedule.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations, and you share SiS's values, to be a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are secure in yourself and have an easy time building relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or an equivalent degree from a university
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish skills in both spoken and written form

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Prison and Probation Service, e.g., as a correctional officer
  • Security guard training
  • Training in health and care
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., youth care, young girls, etc.)

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position and starts with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
