Wanted: Journalism Teacher at Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola
Andelsfören S Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola UpaJönköpings län, Jönköping
Previous experience is desired
You are driven by stories. You have a sense for news, language, and stylistics. You know how to write reports. But above all, you enjoy sharing your knowledge. And you want a truly fun teaching job. You are the one we are looking for!
We are currently seeking a journalism teacher for 25 percent – focusing on news journalism and report writing. Someone who can become part of our team and help shape the journalists of the future.
The Journalism Program at Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola has been training future journalists for over 40 years, and many who studied here now work at various newsrooms around the country.
This is what you will get:
A very pleasant workplace (really – we have a great time!) that gives you significant freedom over both your workday and your teaching. You will meet aspiring journalists and help them take their first steps into the job market. In short, you will definitely make a difference.
This is the person we are looking for:
You are a sharp writer with a strong sense of style. You have worked as a news reporter, preferably at a local newsroom (and maybe you are doing that right now). You know how to capture readers with different forms of texts, both shorter and longer. You have good awareness of the world, sound journalistic judgment, and are used to formulating and packaging content for print and digital platforms.
You enjoy working collaboratively with others, mentoring, teaching, supporting, challenging – and answering curious questions. You easily engage, motivate, and inspire. You are happy to contribute ideas to develop both your own teaching and the entire program. You are confident in your role but always want to move forward.
This is how the position works – and how to apply:
The position encompasses 25 percent and is a permanent position with a six-month probation period. There is an opportunity to adjust working hours and schedule to fit with another job (which can preferably be at a newsroom). Start date in the fall of 2026.
Is this something for you? Contact Håkan Montelius or Jonatan Nilsson at the Journalism Program if you want to know more. The school principal is Anders Georgsson. The union representative for Folkhögskollärarna is John Ahlström. You can reach us via the school's switchboard: 036-30 69 00.
Send your application with CV and cover letter to [email protected] – write “Teacher Journalism Program” in the subject line.
The deadline for applications is April 5, but we review applications continuously – so don’t wait too long!
