JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kalmar Municipality has an ongoing project with a school social team in our primary schools and is now seeking a school social worker for a temporary position. The school social teams are a collaborative project between the education administration and the social services.

As a school social worker, you are employed by the social services but are part of the education administration's school social team. The team's main task is to work with problematic school absenteeism. The assignment involves temporarily strengthening the local student health services at individual units and actively working together at the organizational, group, and individual levels to remove barriers to learning. The school social team aims to contribute to safety, increased attendance, and support for students with unfavorable development at an early stage through collaboration between schools and social services. Within the framework of the school social team, there is an in-depth collaboration between the education administration and the social services, and the team consists of special pedagogical, psychological, and psychosocial competencies.

Your prioritized tasks as a school social worker are to:

• Conduct supportive, motivating, and guiding conversations with students and guardians.
• Contribute to increasing collaboration between the school, home, and external actors.
• Map the student's situation from a holistic perspective and highlight the student's needs.
• Design tailored support for students in collaboration with the school.
• Initiate collaboration between different authorities and interventions concerning young people.
• Work preventively at the organizational level, for example through attendance projects and lectures at schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in Social Work or another relevant higher education corresponding to a basic degree of 180 credits.

You have experience in social services with the target group of children and youth and have good knowledge of legislation concerning children and youth (e.g., the Social Services Act, the Education Act, the Convention on the Rights of the Child). You enjoy working in a team and have good collaborative skills. You have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. You have the ability to create trusting relationships, are structured, can work independently, and are confident in your professional role. Working towards goals and results motivates you, and you are good at adapting your perspective and seeing opportunities in the face of change. We place great importance on personal suitability.

It is an advantage if you are multilingual and have training in conversation methods such as MI, ART, solution-focused or other similar methodologies and parenting support programs.
