Södermöre parish covers about half of Kalmar municipality's area but only just under 15 percent of the population.

Here you find pure countryside where people have been loyal to their land for generations, but also small towns that are expanding with new construction and the influx of young families, resembling urban commuter suburbs.

The parish consists of four congregations, each with two churches. We aim to have vibrant communities around Jesus and each other, faith and worship, everyday life as well as weekends, at each church. In our parish homes, children, youth, confirmation students, and adults gather every week in various ways for community and exploration of life in God: open preschools, children's groups, youth groups, confirmation classes, young leaders, study groups, continuing groups, and pilgrim life. Right now, we are in a movement that is taking us more and more from classical group activities to more open gatherings where we can craft, pray, play, converse, sing, and eat together across generational boundaries. We also aim to increase contact points with schools and preschools, and we would like to use church spaces more pedagogically. We want to work consciously liturgically and connect everyday activities, life, and movement to Sunday mass and vice versa. In the congregations, daily prayer lives in the form of various prayer gatherings.

In Södermöre, there are all opportunities for creative pedagogy. There are churches with a long history and exciting details. There are pilgrimage paths and fantastic surroundings. There are parish homes with facilities for activities for all ages. There are preschools and schools all the way to junior high. There is room for play, liturgy, and joyful learning. There are parishioners and staff who appreciate life, community, and curiosity.

About the position

We are now looking for a parish educator who wants to be involved in the work and further development of the congregations' fundamental tasks. The responsibility will primarily lie in the congregations of Arby-Hagby, Halltorp-Voxtorp, and Karlslunda-Mortorps. The work is based at Tvärskogs parish home but is largely mobile and dynamic in the area. The closest colleagues will be priests and cantors in the mentioned congregations, although all staff work closely together.

We are therefore looking for a well-grounded parish educator who, with care, presence, and creativity:

Conditions

Probationary employment may be relevant. A driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are required for the position. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

The position is full-time with a start date as soon as possible. Apply with a personal letter and CV. In case of an interview, we would like to see certificates, grades, and extracts from the police criminal record. We plan for interviews in early May (weeks 19-20). Before summer, we want to have made a decision. Start before the autumn term of 2026.
