Västanviks Folk High School in Leksand is now looking for a full-time interpreting teacher. The position is a one-year temporary contract with the possibility of continued employment.

About the position

As an interpreting teacher at Västanviks Folk High School, you will work with teaching, planning, and development in sign language interpreting and deafblind interpreting. The education covers several different areas, such as healthcare interpreting, everyday interpreting, theory, and interaction in interpreting situations.

You will work alongside experienced interpreting teachers and be part of a team that is part of the school's teaching staff. You will have the opportunity to participate in the school's development work and will be offered continuous professional development.

The position is varied and may also include interpreting in different contexts within the framework of the operations.

Main responsibilities

• Teach, plan, and develop education in sign language interpreting and deafblind interpreting

• Assess participants' studies and progression

• Plan and supervise internships

• Contribute to the school's other tasks and pedagogical development

• Participate in development work

Desired qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a sign language and deafblind interpreting degree

• Has at least 5 years of work experience as a sign language interpreter and/or deafblind interpreter

• Has good knowledge of Swedish and sign language

Meritorious:

• Experience in planning and conducting education

• Class B driver's license

• Currently active as a sign language interpreter or deafblind interpreter

About Västanviks Folk High School

Västanviks Folk High School is a nationally recruiting boarding school located in Leksand, with a branch in Stockholm. The school offers a wide range of education and courses in a sign language environment, as well as guest accommodation and conference activities. In Leksand, we operate our own property, restaurant, and preschool.
