Senior Preparedness Officer
As a senior preparedness officer in the operational management unit, you will help strengthen Sweden's civil preparedness – for real. Through operational work, planning, exercises, and collaboration, you contribute to ensuring that society functions even in times of crisis and heightened readiness. We are now looking for someone who wants to take an active responsibility in a socially important mission with great significance.
We work with what everyone takes for granted. The ability to communicate. With us, you will ensure that it works now and in the future. For everyone.
The operational management unit works to develop and maintain PTS's ability to manage events that can have significant societal consequences. This means creating conditions for both PTS and the actors we collaborate with to be able to fulfill their tasks even under disrupted conditions, such as during peacetime crises, heightened readiness, and war. The work is carried out in close collaboration with other authorities, businesses, and international actors.
The unit is a mixed group with broad competence and experience. We work in an open and unpretentious climate where collaboration, flexibility, and accountability are central parts. Our tasks change in line with the development of total defense, creating great opportunities for both professional development and variation in work.
I will be your manager, Roger Gustafsson. I value creating good collaborations, trust, and a positive atmosphere in the group. We often work on difficult issues that are important both for the authority and for Sweden. For it to be good, it is important that it is fun to go to work and that we as a workgroup lift each other up.
About the Role
As a senior preparedness officer, you will work with colleagues to develop PTS's ability to fulfill its tasks even under disrupted conditions, such as during peacetime crises and war. The work may involve planning, exercises, and handling incidents that occur.
In this role, you create conditions for other actors – internally within PTS and externally with companies and authorities – to manage their assignments within PTS's areas of responsibility. This may involve work related to the authority's crisis and war organization.
The work involves managing and being responsible for referrals, participating in the unit's work to develop processes, routines, and working methods, and assisting in and driving projects. You will participate in collaboration forums and working groups, both internally and together with external actors, as well as independently drive activities and assignments.
You will also participate in exercise activities, preparedness-related development work, and, if necessary, crisis staff work. The role is varied and may involve quickly switching between different tasks and roles during events that affect PTS's areas of responsibility.
About You
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, unpretentious, and relationship-building, and who thrives in an environment with complex issues and rapid changes. You work in a structured and analytical manner and have a good ability to compile and communicate information clearly, both orally and in writing.
You maintain a calm and factual approach even in pressured situations, can work both independently and together with others, and have an easy time creating and maintaining good relationships. Integrity, good judgment, and a high level of security awareness characterize your working style. For us, your personal qualities are very important, and we will place great emphasis on these.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in engineering, natural sciences, or social sciences, alternatively police or military training or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent
- At least five years of relevant work experience in preparedness issues at a preparedness authority, county administrative board, or in the Government Offices
- Documented good knowledge of the Swedish preparedness system and total defense acquired through qualified education or work experience
- Good ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
It is also meritorious if you have:
- Experience in managing peacetime crises or other serious incidents
- Experience in international work (e.g., work with EU, NATO, or UN issues)
- Experience in planning and leading operational work, for example as a project manager or in a similar role
- Documented experience in telecommunications issues
- Experience in staff organization work
Our Offer
We take life seriously. With us, you can have a life both at work and outside of it. If you feel good, we feel good. Therefore, we offer competitive salaries, flexible working hours, and the possibility of remote work. We also have generous wellness benefits and two wellness hours every week.
In addition, you will receive favorable terms for lunch, vacation, parental leave, pension, and in case of illness. Here, you will work in modern activity-based premises at Hälsingegatan 38. As a government authority, we offer a safe and stable working environment where you can feel secure. We are creating tomorrow's society and must stay at the forefront. With us, you will continuously grow with your tasks.
