Manager Support at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Mariestad

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Mariestad operational area includes the closed prison Johannesberg, the largest open prison in the country, Rödjan, and the Detention Center in Mariestad. Currently, Mariestad has about 400 employees distributed across various job categories and competencies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for two new manager support roles for our operations, and together with your manager support colleague, you will work closely with the prison chief, deputy prison chief, and the prison inspectors (first-line managers). You will also collaborate with several others in the organization, which places high demands on your communication skills. Through a consultative working method, you will support the managers in their questions regarding rehabilitation, recruitment, systematic work environment management (SAM), and salary processes. The role also includes ensuring that local work is conducted in a uniform and quality-assured manner according to the authority's guidelines, as well as working both broadly and in-depth in the management's steering and follow-up processes. Given that the Mariestad operational area is growing, the role will evolve over time, requiring you to be flexible in your position.

As Manager Support, you will work with all operational sites within the Mariestad area.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive in the role of manager support in the Mariestad operational area, we see that you need to have good collaboration skills and find it easy to establish new contacts. You will support the managers in an advisory capacity and provide them with the knowledge they need to perform their work. We see that you are curious while also willing to share your own knowledge. Since the position will change over time, you need to be self-driven, proactive, and adaptable to changes. You will be responsible for keeping order in folders related to larger forums, so it is important that you can work in a structured manner. As manager support, you will assist the managers in various contexts, which also requires you to have high integrity and a good ability to listen to the manager's needs for support.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school diploma
• Work experience in administrative roles within the public sector
• Experience supporting managers
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Good IT skills

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• University degree with a focus on HR
• Experience and/or education in labor law
• Experience coordinating, planning, and following up processes with multiple stakeholders
• Experience in a consultative working method
