Department of Culture and Aesthetics (IKE)

The Department of Culture and Aesthetics (IKE) is one of the largest departments at the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University.

The department has a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment. Education and research are conducted in seven main areas: history of ideas, art history, literary studies, musicology, theater studies, curating, and cultural heritage studies. IKE has around 120 employees and 1200 full-time students operating in a unique environment in the Manne Siegbahn building from 1936, with proximity to public transport on the Frescati campus.

We are now looking for an experienced economist with an interest in project monitoring and the development of routines. We offer a stimulating workplace with varied tasks and friendly colleagues!

Job Responsibilities

As an economist, you have a central role regarding the department's finances related to the core activities of education and research. As part of the administrative department, your task is to provide competent support and contribute to the development of working methods, routines, and processes. The work will be done in close collaboration with the department's other economist and includes budget, forecasting, and monitoring of invoices, expenses, and staffing.

The main tasks are:

  • project accounting and administration of research projects
  • budget, forecasting, and monitoring of the department's cost centers
  • development of financial administrative routines
  • purchasing and contract management.

Stockholm University is a government authority, and the tasks are governed by both internal and external regulations, and you are responsible for monitoring these. You will work closely with researchers on the finances of their research projects. The work involves many internal and external contacts, as you collaborate with both department staff and the university's central finance department. You will report to the department's administrative manager.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • relevant higher education degree (for example, a bachelor's degree in business administration) or equivalent work experience
  • experience in budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring
  • experience in project monitoring
  • good knowledge of the Office suite, particularly Excel
  • good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

Meritorious

  • experience from working in a university or higher education institution
  • experience with Qlik Sense and/or Raindance.

Personal Qualities

You are structured and self-driven. You have a good ability to plan and effectively execute tasks within your area of responsibility. Since you will have many contact points, it is important that you work consultatively and build good relationships. You are a team player who is positive, solution-oriented, and enjoys presenting and communicating financial information to researchers and staff at the department. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

About the Employment

The position is full-time and is permanent with a six-month probationary period. There is an opportunity for remote work up to two days a week. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting, so please indicate your salary expectations. Start date as soon as possible.
