The Östergötland Police Area is the largest police area in the East region in terms of both population and area. The geographical area covers 13 municipalities. The Östergötland Police Area is divided into three local police areas: Linköping, Norrköping, and Motala. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a police area office.
The Police's traffic safety work aims to reduce the number of deaths and injuries in traffic. To achieve the goal of fewer fatalities and injuries in traffic, the traffic safety work is focused on the following prioritized areas: speed, seat belts, sobriety, driver and vehicle control, and mobile inspections. Increased compliance with traffic regulations also leads to increased safety in society.
Controls of professional traffic require specialist competence for the Police Authority to achieve the levels of controls established by the EU. Within the area of driver and vehicle control as well as mobile inspections, we have civilian employees who, together with traffic police, work on the roads with these tasks. The work is guided by the needs of the operation and work at inconvenient times occurs regularly.
We are now looking for a vehicle inspector for the local police area Linköping.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The tasks of a vehicle inspector mainly consist of conducting various types of checks and inspections within the framework of traffic work.
Specific examples of tasks include:
- Mobile inspection of light and heavy vehicles/professional traffic
- Weighing of vehicles
- Investigation of certain traffic offenses
- Technical inspections of vehicles
- Control of professional drivers' driving and rest times
- Control of load securing
- Control of permits for professional traffic
- Control of national and international professional transports
The work takes place at all hours of the day in all weather and requires that you have good physical fitness.
As a vehicle inspector at the Police Authority, you will also undergo a nationally established vehicle inspector training.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who:
- Has relevant education, such as certified inspection or vehicle technician, high school education focused on vehicles or technology, or other education deemed equivalent/relevant.
- Driving license for BE and CE is required upon application. At the start of employment, DE license is also required.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English in speech and writing.
- Experience working with a computer as a working tool.
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- Certified inspection technician or equivalent
- Driving license A
The work as a vehicle inspector requires that you are service-oriented and can collaborate well with other vehicle inspectors and police officers. You are unpretentious in relation to others and humble regarding the task you have in meeting people. With respect and attentiveness, you work in a good balance between the professional role and the person you meet on the roads. To thrive in the role, we also see that you are driven, responsible, take initiative, and engage in your tasks. You have a great interest in all kinds of vehicles and enjoy keeping yourself updated in the field.
