Deputy Signals Protection Chief at FOI

The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. The research spans several areas, including underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analyses. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.

About the Position

In the role of Deputy Signals Protection Chief, you will support and represent FOI's operations in signals protection matters, both nationally and internationally. Within the framework of the area of responsibility, you will educate, establish and revise regulations, handle cases, administer signals protection operations, and conduct inspections. The work involves continuously keeping yourself updated on applicable legislation and regulations, as well as collaborating with other authorities and the supervisory authority MUST. In addition to signals protection, you will also work with adjacent systems for secure communication and participate in the joint security protection efforts.

FOI operates in four locations across the country (Umeå, Kista, Grindsjön, and Linköping), which means regular domestic travel. International travel may occur.

About the Unit

You will be part of the security protection unit, which is placed directly under the Director General. The security protection unit directs and supports the agency's operations in its security protection work. We are represented at all of FOI's operational sites. The placement for this position is in Linköping.

Do you have the competency profile we need?

Requirements

  • Signals protection chief training or similar that FOI assesses as equivalent
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite.
  • Training and experience in IS-Undsäk

As a person, you have integrity and a high security awareness. You are self-driven and have the ability to take your own initiatives in your work. You have good communication skills and can educate and create understanding of signals protection and security protection at various levels. To function well in the role, you are responsive to the needs of the organization. You also have good collaboration skills and find it easy to build trusting relationships. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.

Desirable

We are looking for someone who has signals protection teaching qualifications and system operator training in signals protection (PGAI, PGBI, MGEI, MGGI, MGS/I). You have basic knowledge of networks, firewalls, and IT security. Furthermore, you are trained as a short administrator class A and B, as well as key administrator for TSA and Kap Light. A driver's license (B) is a requirement. It is also desirable that you have previously served as a signals protection chief or deputy signals protection chief.

The position is a permanent employment that may start with a six-month probationary period.
