The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding to existing ones, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Umeå area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the detention center Umeå. We are undergoing extensive capacity increases, and a lot is happening in the area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, crop production, textiles, etc. Sörbyn is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and detention center are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, while Sörbyn can only be reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units.

We are now looking for administrators for summer temporary positions at Sörbyn prison. The temporary positions cover the period from week 24 to 32.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

To succeed in the role of administrator, it is important to have an organized work approach, a high sense of responsibility, and the ability to work towards goals and tight deadlines. You plan and execute your work efficiently, even under high workloads or temporary tasks. During quieter periods, you see what needs to be done and take the initiative for other tasks. You always work efficiently while being quality-conscious.

Examples of tasks included in the role are managing tasks related to client and operational administration, as well as being responsible for the registration and handling of client cases/client files, etc.

The work also includes tasks within finance, such as monthly reconciliations and year-end closings. You handle clients' wages, benefits, and personal funds. Internal accounting, follow-up, and invoice management are also part of your role, in addition to managing orders for the prison's kiosk. Some client-facing work is also included.

In this position, it is important to maintain good legal security. You do this, among other things, by collaborating with contacts both within the authority and with external partners in the justice chain.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education in the form of a final grade or diploma
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience in administrative work from municipal or state operations
• Experience in finance and invoice management
• Experience in administrative work from the prison service
• Experience in bookkeeping
• Education in administration and finance
• Driving license B
