Are you ready for a bigger challenge? We are currently seeking a Budget Controller to join our team for work with financial management at the national level, who possesses good collaboration and communication skills, and has an interest and willingness to participate in our development.

Workplace Description

The Financial Management Unit is part of the Police Authority's Finance Department. Here, you will play an important role in a finance department that is anything but ordinary, with a broad mandate. We have a national responsibility for the authority's financial and operational management and for providing premises, vehicles, materials, equipment, and services. Together, we contribute to ensuring that the police can fulfill their core mission - to make all of Sweden safe and secure.

The unit works with strategic and normative issues and supports the management of the Police Authority and the Finance Department in matters related to financial management. We work, among other things, to coordinate the work with the authority's budget proposals, allocation of budget frameworks at the national level, financial forecasts, analysis, and follow-up, and we prepare materials for the authority's management. Our mission is to ensure effective and transparent resource use that provides the best possible conditions for the organization to achieve its goals. Within the unit, there is a financial management group consisting of nine employees, most of whom are based in Stockholm.

Job Description

As a Budget Controller with us, you will have a central role in supporting management and operations through qualified analyses and decision-making materials. You will contribute to understanding the Police Authority's finances in both the short and long term and create good conditions for strengthening the authority's financial management.

Your main tasks are:

  • prepare the authority's budget proposals to the government
  • develop the authority's planning and follow-up process with a focus on, among other things, follow-up and forecasts to the government and at the national level within the authority
  • drive and participate in efforts to develop and strengthen the authority's financial management
  • establish calculations and prepare financial decision-making materials
  • lead and drive various types of change initiatives, working groups, evaluations, etc., based on the needs that exist and arise within the area of financial management
  • ongoing efficiency and improvement work
  • respond to consultations and inquiries within the area of financial management
  • ad hoc analyses

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • relevant higher education in the field of economics or equivalent education/experience that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • experience of qualified work in financial management, budgeting, analysis, and forecasting at the authority-wide level
  • very good ability to express yourself well in Swedish both orally and in writing
  • very good knowledge of Excel
  • Swedish citizenship

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • experience in financial management from a government authority or another larger organization
  • experience in participating in or driving change and development work within the field of economics
  • experience with larger financial or business systems and system support
