Bris is looking for an Advocacy Officer
Do you want to help strengthen children's rights? Bris is one of Sweden's largest children's rights organizations, providing support to children around the clock, all year round. This gives us unique knowledge about children's living conditions and the shortcomings of society. Based on our support, research, and human rights, Bris works to ensure that children have access to their rights. We are now looking for a person who can contribute to this important work.
About the role
As the Advocacy Officer at Bris, you will play a key role in developing, coordinating, and implementing the organization's advocacy work. Bris aims to be a brave and constructive voice in debate and dialogue, and we like to think creatively and innovatively in our advocacy efforts. You will work strategically and operationally, creating collaborations and networks based on a clear rights perspective. Advocacy work takes place internationally, nationally, and locally. The Advocacy Officer belongs to the communication, opinion, and advocacy unit.
Examples of tasks
- Monitor and analyze political processes and societal debates to ensure that Bris acts on the right issues at the right time.
- Participate in governmental inquiries, analyze proposals and legislation relevant to children's rights.
- Develop strategies for Bris's advocacy work based on the external environment, operational plan, and prioritized issues.
- Coordinate Bris's political advocacy work and be the internal contact point for issues related to advocacy and political contacts.
- Build and maintain relationships with decision-makers, authorities, and other relevant actors.
- Lead projects and implement activities related to advocacy work.
- Be a spokesperson in the media and represent Bris in debates, seminars, and other public contexts.
- Contribute to materials for the Secretary General as well as to opinion pieces, reports, and other communications.
We are looking for someone who
- Has solid experience in political advocacy or policy work and understands how social change occurs in practice.
- Is comfortable building relationships and representing an organization in various contexts.
- Has a very good ability to explain and communicate complex issues in a pedagogical manner for different target groups.
- Takes initiative and is responsible for ensuring that initiatives are implemented in close dialogue with colleagues.
A legal education or experience in legal analysis is an advantage. Experience working with rights within civil society or the public sector is also advantageous.
About the position:
- Full-time and based in Stockholm, with the possibility of hybrid work.
- Goal-oriented working hours.
- Probationary period of 6 months.
