Teaching Assistant at Björkaskolan

SiS youth home Rebecka receives non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial issues as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse. We know that meaningful learning begins with the personal interests of the youth. By combining interest with knowledge, we create lessons that inspire, engage, and prepare our youth for the future – whether it concerns working life or further studies. We actively work to provide each young person with the best conditions to develop and succeed during their school years and in the future.

Job Description

We are now looking for you who want to work at Björkaskolan as a Teaching Assistant.

We are seeking a structured, committed, and communicative teaching assistant. You have a solution-focused approach and are creative in how you meet the students' needs. You have a good ability to build relationships with students. You can interpret social interactions among students, be a positive adult role model, and create trust. The assignment involves a lot of student contacts, which requires you to act as a good role model for the students.

The position primarily involves working together with the students to guide and support them during parts of the school day, both during lessons and in other contexts throughout the school day.

Together with teachers and other staff at the school, you work to create a developing, meaningful, and positive environment for the students. Care and supervision of students are other important parts of the assignment. Depending on the needs of the operation, the work can be carried out with individual students or with a group.

The tasks are varied and diverse. They may involve helping the student find calm in their studies or assisting in finding individual solutions for the student to acquire knowledge. It may also involve practicing everyday tasks, supporting the student in various activities during breaks, in changing rooms, during meals, or on excursions, among other things.

Qualifications

  • You have relevant education in children and youth or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • You have experience in documenting, following up, and evaluating/reflecting.
  • You are fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in leading groups and planning and conducting lessons.
  • Being flexible and able to meet students and create good relationships.

Meritorious

  • You have knowledge of cognitive functions and their impact on students' learning and development.
  • You have experience working in adapted primary schools or with similar assignments with children and youth.
  • Previous experience working or interning in schools is an advantage.
  • Experience with special education groups is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of neuropsychiatric issues is an advantage.

We are looking for someone who shares SiS's values of respect, care, and safety. You have good collaboration skills, are flexible, and goal-oriented.

Employment

The position is a fixed-term employment for six months.

This position is part-time (60%).

Start date according to agreement.
