Educational Supervisor at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding on, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service will provide education in the upcoming child and youth departments; primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The environment is designed to meet the specific needs of this target group within the Prison and Probation Service. The operation is part of the nationally coordinated educational activities of the Prison and Probation Service, which also includes education equivalent to adult education (Komvux). It aims to provide each student with an equivalent and quality education.

The education for children and youth is mainly conducted through close instruction, in a safe and structured environment. The education is integrated with other measures within the Prison and Probation Service to support the development and future opportunities of the children and youth.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Children and youth residing in prison should be offered education equivalent to primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. As an educational supervisor at the Learning Center, you will play an important role in this mission. You contribute to creating a safe, structured, and meaningful school experience for students in vulnerable situations, and you work together with the teachers at the prison and in a nationally coordinated educational operation focused on equity and continuity.

You will be placed at the Rosersberg prison. All work takes place at the prison.

QUALIFICATIONS

In your role as an educational supervisor, you are a skilled educator with the will and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematic processes. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good teamwork and initiative skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently.

For us, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the individual's will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A high school diploma
• Experience working in educational activities at the secondary school and/or upper secondary school level.
• The ability to express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems

It is an advantage if you have:

• Educational training with a focus on schools
