Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams
We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
Located centrally by Årstaberg station is Sjöviksskolan, a modern F-9 school.
The school's premises were completed in 2020 and are designed with a special focus on creating creative learning environments with a high sense of security. This is evident through the absence of corridors, that older and younger students are in different rooms, and that art plays a prominent role in the premises. The school's special classrooms are located in the main building that houses the older students. The youngest students have their own movement room and a combined room for creative activities, which reduces movement between buildings. Students meet every day in the cafeteria, where they have their own sections, as well as outside on the playground.
The school is organized in three parallel classes where each grade constitutes a working team. Each grade has its own home base where the three classes in the grade have their classrooms as well as associated group rooms and workspaces. The work in the team is led by a team leader while the pedagogical development work that takes place in learning groups is led by the school's lead teachers.
Sjöviksskolan's vision is to create opportunities for the future. We do this by working with our core values – proud, brave, and together. All students at Sjöviksskolan should feel proud of who they are. They should take pride in their journey through school, the knowledge and skills they develop, and the community we create together. During their time with us, students should develop courage, the courage to be themselves, to dare to try new things, and the courage to fulfill their dreams. We do all this together. No one should be alone at Sjöviksskolan; everyone should find community, in the smaller contexts with those we are closest to, in the larger contexts, with those we meet every day, and in the larger whole, all of us at Sjövik!
Your role
For the school year 26/27, we are now looking for an engaged teacher in Swedish/Swedish as a second language and English who is also interested in the role of team leader. The position is a permanent full-time (100%) employment. You will belong to one of the teams in the upper secondary school. The position includes teaching Swedish/Swedish as a second language as well as extra Swedish/English. Mentorship for students in the current grade is also included. Our upper secondary school is the youngest part of Sjöviksskolan, and in the spring term of 2025, we handed over the third cohort of students who finished 9th grade. Therefore, we are looking for a teacher who wants to be involved in the continued development of our upper secondary school.
In the role of a teacher at Sjöviksskolan, it is your task to motivate and give each student the opportunity to develop and reach their full potential. Since there is close collaboration between the classes and teachers at the school, we are looking for someone who is relationship-oriented and enjoys collaborating with others. Positive, driven, engaged, solution-oriented, and clear leadership are qualities that we value.
The role of team leader
The role of team leader means that you are part of the school's management team, which consists of the school management and team leaders. As a team leader at Sjöviksskolan, you are expected to strive to:
- be a natural and guiding leader.
- distribute the work in the team so that all colleagues take responsibility and become involved.
- involve colleagues in leadership responsibilities so that the group becomes self-sufficient.
- give the group new challenges and allow colleagues' competencies to be utilized.
- dare to make decisions, try new things, and learn from mistakes.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who:
- have a teaching license for grades 7-9 in compulsory school with authorization to teach Swedish, Swedish as a second language, and English.
- demonstrate good leadership qualities and a good ability to create positive relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, thereby creating a safe climate and a good working environment.
- have high and positive expectations of students and their ability to develop.
- are passionate about pedagogical development together with your colleagues and are creative and open to new ideas and feedback.
- have good digital competence and work systematically with documentation and follow-up.
Previous experience in leading colleagues is meritorious. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
