Fysikum is one of the larger institutions within the Faculty of Science, with a broad basic research activity, both experimental and theoretical.

The department has approximately 230 employees, including 60 doctoral students, and has an international character. Fysikum is part of the AlbaNova University Center, which is a strong research center that also includes the Department of Astronomy, the physics departments at KTH, and the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, Nordita.

The activities are part of the Oskar Klein Center (OKC) (https://www.su.se/enheter/oskar-klein-center), which offers a broad and exciting research environment with more than a hundred researchers working in both theory and experiment.
