The Department of Archival Science and Library and Information Science belongs to the Department of History and Contemporary Studies. Teaching in Archival Science has been conducted for a long time at Södertörn University, while Library and Information Science is a relatively new addition to the educational offering. The subjects currently employ six teachers and offer teaching up to the bachelor's level.

We are seeking a temporary lecturer who can see themselves teaching in both subjects and who has a drive to learn more and develop their knowledge within Archival, Library, and Information Science. We are a small academic environment that is partially under development and are looking for someone with a strong interest in the archival and library fields, who has specialized in archives or libraries, but who wishes to broaden their knowledge and learn more.

Duties

The duties include teaching in Archival Science and Library and Information Science. Teaching in other subjects, such as within the teacher education program, may also become relevant. The duties also include administration related to teaching. Teaching is conducted in Swedish.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as a lecturer in Archival Science and Library and Information Science is someone who has obtained a university degree in Archival Science or Library and Information Science and has demonstrated pedagogical skill. The applicant must have completed university pedagogical training of at least 7.5 higher education credits or have equivalent competence. Eligibility also includes professional competence that is significant for the subject content and duties of the employment. The applicant must otherwise have the personal qualities needed to perform the employment well and to represent the university in a way that benefits the operations. For this employment, it is required that the applicant masters teaching in Swedish.

Pedagogical Skill is demonstrated through solid and current knowledge relevant to the employment and a self-reflective approach to student learning and experiences, as well as to one's own teacher role. Pedagogical experience can be acquired through activities at a university or other activities.

For this employment, the following assessment criteria have also been established (in order of priority). The points below must be documented:

• Good ability to collaborate
• Pedagogical skill with regard to the professions of Archivist and Librarian, and within academic reading and writing
• Professional competence in archival science or library and information science and higher education
• Skill in using as well as teaching about and in digital learning environments
• Collaboration skill
• Administrative skill

Employment

The employment is a fixed-term position for one year, starting on August 1st or by agreement, with a scope of 100%. Start date for the autumn term 2026.
