Role Description and Responsibilities

As Deputy Secretary-General for Research Infrastructures, you will assist the Secretary-General. Your primary responsibility covers issues related to international cooperation on research infrastructures, as well as research infrastructure matters at the European level and linked to EU framework programs. You will serve as the rapporteur within your area of responsibility at the Council for Research Infrastructures. Together with the Secretary-Generals, you will be part of the Swedish Research Council's Secretary-General group, contributing knowledge and advising the agency leadership. The role also involves developing the Council's overall operations and participating in external contexts, both in Sweden and internationally.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with high scientific competence in one or more scientific areas relevant to research infrastructures. You must have experience from international cooperation within research infrastructures and knowledge of EU framework programs. It is an asset to have knowledge and experience of strategic work with international and large-scale research infrastructures in the field of physics, as well as technical infrastructures. Scientific competence in physics, materials science, engineering, or computer science/e-infrastructure is also an asset. You should have an interest in and experience of international work with research funding and strategic research questions, preferably from a systems perspective. Previous experience of management assignments at a university, another agency within the research field, or at an international research infrastructure is an asset.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. As Deputy Secretary-General, you need to have good analytical skills and the ability to think and act strategically with a holistic view of the issues addressed. You need good communication skills and the ability to express yourself well orally and in writing, both in Swedish and English. The work also requires good teamwork skills.

Location

You will be based at our office on Hantverkargatan in Stockholm, and we offer the possibility to agree on part-time remote work based on operational needs.

Employment Type and Start Date

The employment is up to 50% for a period of three years. The total employment time is a maximum of six years. The position as Deputy Secretary-General must be combined with an employment as a researcher at a Swedish university. Start date is negotiable.
