Project Description
This PhD position is available in the laboratory led by Professor Qi Dai. The Dai laboratory utilizes a combination of molecular, genetic, and genomic methods to gain mechanistic insights into how cell fates are specified. This specific project aims to reveal evolutionarily conserved mechanisms that govern the formation of animal epithelial tissue. Experimental methods involve genetic approaches combined with imaging and genome profiling techniques. Candidates with a strong background in molecular genetics and developmental biology are welcome to apply.
Eligibility Requirements
To be admitted to the doctoral programme, the applicant must meet both general and specific eligibility requirements. These must be fulfilled by the application deadline.
- General Eligibility: Completion of an advanced-level degree, or fulfillment of course requirements totaling at least 240 higher education credits (ECTS), of which at least 60 credits must be at the advanced level, or equivalent knowledge acquired domestically or abroad.
- Specific Eligibility: According to the general study plan for doctoral education in molecular biosciences, the applicant must have completed at least 120 credits in molecular biology, biology, chemistry, or equivalent at the first-cycle level. Additionally, at least 60 credits at the advanced level in molecular biosciences or equivalent are required, of which at least 30 credits must consist of an independent project.
Selection Criteria
Selection among applicants is based on the ability to benefit from doctoral-level education. Criteria used to assess this ability include:
- Documented knowledge in a relevant research area.
- Written and spoken proficiency in English.
- Ability to think analytically.
- Ability to collaborate.
- Creativity, initiative, and independence.
- Experience in genetics, bioinformatics, and genomic approaches will be considered an asset.
The assessment will be based on previous experience, grades, publication records, the quality of the thesis work, references, relevant experience, interviews, and the candidate's written motivation for applying for the PhD position.
