The upper secondary education programs we offer are EK, ES, IB, NA, and SA. The school is organized into four principal areas with shared support functions.
At PB, you will become part of the city's best and most engaged faculty that motivates, inspires, and challenges the students. This creates the conditions for a truly great school, where we build knowledge and experience that students will benefit from for the rest of their lives. Our profile is characterized by creativity and commitment with an international focus.
We now need to strengthen our team - are you the one we are looking for?
Your new job
You will be responsible for instrumental teaching in percussion for students who have chosen percussion as their main instrument. The teaching includes, among other things, drum set, mallet instruments, timpani, and other percussion instruments, and is conducted both individually and in smaller teaching groups.
In addition to instrumental teaching in percussion, ensemble leadership at the upper secondary level is included, where students play together in bands and ensemble groups with varying instrument compositions. The ensemble teaching focuses on collaboration, musical communication, stylistic awareness, and collective music-making. You will lead ensembles at different levels and work with clear progression based on the students' conditions and the goals of the education. The activities are often conducted in project form, with concerts and other public performances as goals. You will also participate in and be responsible for the tasks within program working groups and subject teams.
The Arts Program is an important and visible part of the school's activities, and you will belong to the principal area that encompasses the entire aesthetic education. We maintain a high quality in our teaching and have been granted by the Swedish National Agency for Education to conduct nationally recruiting elite programs within all artistic expressions, including music. Therefore, we have high expectations for everyone working in the program.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who is qualified and certified as a music teacher at the upper secondary level with percussion as the main instrument. You preferably have another subject in your degree.
You have a broad musical competence and can easily navigate between classical music and African American traditions, as well as other relevant genres. You have good experience in leading and teaching ensembles where students play different instruments, and you have the ability to create structure, engagement, and musical coherence regardless of ensemble composition.
You are confident in your role as a leader, clear in your communication, and have the ability to adapt your working methods to different groups and levels. You collaborate with other educators and artistic leaders within the organization and actively contribute to the school's ensemble and concert activities. In dialogue with colleagues and students, you develop and shape the artistic direction for the percussion subject, as well as contribute to the program's overall artistic and pedagogical development.
Summarized in bullet points:
- Experience in teaching percussion at the upper secondary level
- Has broad musical competence and experience working across genres
- Has experience in ensemble leadership/band teaching with mixed instrument settings
- Is accustomed to project-based work and concert activities
- Has good pedagogical skills and enjoys collaboration in collegial contexts
