School Coordinator at SiS Youth Home Brättegården

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with addiction. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with addiction, across the country. With us at SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS youth home Brättegården is located just outside Vänersborg. We receive non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial issues, mental health problems, as well as criminal behavior and addiction.

Job Description

Are you solution-focused and possess excellent social skills? Do you also have experience working with young people facing psychosocial difficulties? Then you should apply for our new role as a school coordinator at Brättegården! As a school coordinator, you will play a central role in the school's organization by acting as a link between school management, teachers, students, and departments.

The purpose of the role is to promote collaboration and communication between departments and the school, thereby contributing to higher attendance in school. Having a functioning school experience is, according to research, a significant protective factor for the well-being of young people, which we at Brättegården see as a major and important task.

Your main responsibility is to ensure that the school's daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. This may involve having an overview of the school day, supporting teachers and students in their daily work.

In this role, you will collaborate with the school administrator, teachers, principal, and departments, and participate in daily morning meetings focused on school attendance. You will work to create a safe environment by being involved in risk assessments and actively being present in the school building and in classes, helping students get to school and following up on those who did not attend by visiting the departments.

You need to enjoy being flexible by handling multiple tasks and contacts simultaneously, as the workday can be varied and sometimes unpredictable. Being skilled at building structures and finding solutions even when there is no ready manual is something we see as a given.

Qualifications

A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent.

A valid driver's license (B)

Experience working with youth with special needs within the school system, e.g., placed in HVB homes or within secure youth care, is an advantage.

We see this role as crucial for creating a positive and well-functioning school environment where both staff and students can reach their full potential, so we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

At SiS, we value good employee engagement. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee engagement.
