Research Assistant at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics consists of approximately 250 people, including about 60 doctoral students.

The department conducts world-class education and research.

In addition to our research groups in Frescati, we have several groups and national facilities located at SciLifeLab. SciLifeLab is a national center with the overarching goal of facilitating the intersection of cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research in life sciences.

Job Responsibilities

The research assistant will perform RNA and DNA analysis, gel electrophoresis, certain chemical and biochemical analyses, as well as mathematical and bioinformatics analyses.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone studying biotechnology who has a good understanding and interest in the nervous system, aging, neurodegeneration, and Parkinson's disease, demonstrated through an attached research plan. You should also have a good understanding of RNA biology and its analysis, and preferably have experience in programming using Python and strong mathematical skills. You should also have experience in conducting risk assessments, an interest in organizational tasks, and be a good collaborator and communicator.

In the hiring process, special emphasis will be placed on the attached research plan and how it demonstrates an understanding and interest in the subject area. Applicants will also be assessed on their ability to collaborate, communicate, take responsibility, and their organizational skills.

About the Employment

The position is a temporary employment for up to three months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
