About our Children and Youth Clinic

The vision of the Children and Youth Clinic is to provide the best possible healthcare for children, adolescents, and their families in an environment characterized by play, joy, participation, and safety.

The Children and Youth Clinic in Halland is a regional clinic that offers inpatient and outpatient care at Hallands Hospital Halmstad and outpatient care at the clinics in Kungsbacka, Varberg, and Falkenberg. Halland's maternity units are located in Varberg and Halmstad. We are a research-active children's clinic in a small and personal format, with short distances to colleagues who together cover all subspecialties. The Children and Youth Clinic investigates and treats children and adolescents aged 0-17 years with pediatric diseases such as allergies, asthma, gastrointestinal diseases, urological and nephrological diseases, neurological diseases, heart diseases, hormonal disorders, cancer, and rheumatic diseases. The neonatal department cares for sick newborns and premature infants from week 28 of pregnancy. In addition to primary and backup lines, we also have a neonatal backup line in Halmstad. In Varberg, we are responsible for an emergency line for childbirth.

The clinic is characterized by a dynamic development and educational climate with learning and development throughout the professional life. Many employees engage in research during parts of their working hours, and we have several who have obtained their doctorate at the clinic.

About the work at our clinic

As a physician at our pediatric and adolescent medicine clinic, you work closely with other professional categories around the children and their families. Our physician group aims to maintain a good breadth but also to have specialized expertise to manage much of the advanced healthcare, of course in good collaboration with the larger regional hospitals, especially in Gothenburg and Lund.

At the clinic in Kungsbacka, there are around 25 employees. We currently have pediatricians, pediatric nurses, child nurses, nursing assistants, secretaries, dietitians, social workers, psychologists, and physiotherapists. The staff has good and long professional experience, which enables us to investigate and treat many different pediatric conditions, diseases, and diagnoses.

As a physician at our clinic, you are never alone; there is always someone to discuss with or seek help from. We currently have physicians who specialize in allergies, obesity, diabetes, endocrinology, gastrointestinal diseases, urological and nephrological diseases, and neurology. All physicians at our clinic have their specialty but also general pediatrics. This means that the days of the week look different, providing variation and a stimulating schedule.

Qualifications

You should be a pediatrician, either a finished specialist or at the end of your residency in pediatrics.

You should have good social skills and see it as a given to meet patients and their relatives as well as colleagues in the best possible way. You are also responsible, easy to collaborate with, flexible, and have good communication skills. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We would like to see that you have an interest in diabetes and obesity, but you do not need to be a trained diabetes physician today; you should be curious to learn about the area. If you are currently working as a pediatrician with another focus, that can naturally also be of great benefit to our clinic. If you also want to participate in our emergency line for childbirth in Varberg, that is an extra plus, but not a necessity for applying for the position.
