About us

We are looking for employees who want to work with us in Clinical Pathology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

We are a regional operation in change and development with a focus on digitization in diagnostics. We are now looking for someone interested in working in histopathology with a focus on immunohistochemistry.

Within Pathology Laboratory 3 at Sahlgrenska Hospital, we are about twenty employees, mainly biomedical analysts but also biologists. The work is largely performed in teams together with doctors. Tasks with us include managing orders for immunohistochemical analyses on tissue samples to facilitate accurate diagnosis and communicating test results to treating physicians so that patients can receive optimal treatment. Much of the work is performed using automated staining machines, but conventional processing of tissue samples according to histopathological methods is also included. We are increasingly working with digital image management of scanned slides after staining as part of our ongoing development work.

About the job

At the Pathology Laboratories, we work in teams, and you will collaborate with other biomedical analysts, biologists, laboratory technicians, laboratory assistants, nursing assistants, and doctors. The work involves paraffin embedding, sectioning, cutting of frozen specimens, immuno- and histochemical staining. There is also handling of urgent samples from transplanted patients in one of the units, which includes an on-call line. We will tell you more about this in a possible interview.

Everyone who joins us receives internal training, and we work with competency certificates to ensure the quality of the training.

About you

You are a biologist with a focus on cell and molecular biology. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and are accustomed to using digital tools in your work. Experience in laboratory operations is an advantage, and it is a great plus if you have previously worked in a pathology laboratory. A Master's degree in a relevant field is advantageous.

We are looking for someone who is meticulous, can plan and prioritize their work, and adapt to changing circumstances. The work requires a certain manual dexterity as parts of the process are performed manually. You are easy to collaborate with, enjoy working in teams, and are good at communicating with your colleagues and others you work with.
